The Plan
In 2009 we at Northwest Bible Church walked through Jesus’ life and ministry as recording in the Gospel of Mark, praying, “Jesus, we want what you want.” In 2010 we continued that journey as we daily sought His direction from the New Testament, taking time to read the Bible, listen to what the Spirit was telling us through the Scripture, and respond with our lives.
In 2011, read + listen + respond continued as we began the year seeking wisdom from the Book of Proverbs, then read through the narrative of the Old Testament. Not every book was be posted in its entirety – often, we will hit the highlights in order to convey a broader sense of the overall story of God’s redemptive work among his people in the Old Testament. Interspersed throughout the week’s readings might be a portion from the Psalms, in order to see how a person of faith might respond to the events described in the narrative.
For 2012, read + listen + respond turns to the life of Jesus recorded in the four gospels. Rather than reading the gospel books individually, we will read the story of Jesus’ life on earth through a unique plan that blends the gospel accounts so we can gain a complete perspective on the order of events from Jesus’ birth to his resurrection. In order to understand how the life of Jesus fulfills Israel’s expectations of the coming Messiah, we will read relevant passages and prophecies from the Old Testament.
We hope that you will join us as we read the Word and seek daily guidance from God our Savior through the work of our Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
